Being an American Essay First Place Regional Winners Announced! 

Seniors Andy Rys of Oakton High School (Oakton, VA), Jennifer Tran of Berkner High School (Richardson, TX) and Barbara Walkowiak of Lincoln East High School (Lincoln, NE) have won top honors in the 2007-08 “Being an American” essay contest sponsored by the Bill of Rights Institute, Arlington, VA. The winners and their sponsoring teachers, announced at a gala dinner at a Washington, DC hotel Thursday night, will each receive $5,000 cash awards.
