Audio News Release with Juan Williams and John Clemens

High school students from all over the nation are being invited to take part in the 2008-2009 “Being an American” essay contest. Both students and teachers are eligible for cash prizes of up to five-thousand dollars with nearly 200-thousand dollars in prize money to be awarded. John Clemens reports.

The contest sponsored by the Bill of Rights Institute, explores not only the rights of American citizenship, but also our responsibilities. Victoria Hughes is the President of the Bill of Rights Institute of Arlington, Virginia.

Victoria Hughes believes the “Being An American” essay contest is a great opportunity for high school students to explore the rights, responsibilities and the civic values that unite us as Americans.
